KITV Island News is looking for a passionate, dedicated, and skilled Anchor/Reporter who cares deeply about the community he/she serves. This is not a position for a news reader. KITV4 Island News anchors are strong reporters and work hard to keep the website and social media active as well.
The News Anchor will co-anchor a daily newscast. The anchor will be responsible for writing and presenting the news, conducting interviews both live and recorded, and participate in the producing of the newscast. As a leader in the newsroom, the News Anchor de-facto serves as a role model for a young staff and will need to be willing to help edit, coach and help others with storytelling and presentation. The News Anchor may also be required to field report and field anchor.
The News Anchor must have an authoritative and credible on-air presence. Must be authentic and connects well with the viewers. The News Anchor will be asked to participate in station promotional campaigns, be the face of the station, represent the station in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Anchoring
- Nights, mornings, weekends, and odd-hours are to be expected. Anchors must be reachable at all hours of the day and be able to drop everything to come in for breaking news.
- Daily reporting
- Multiple, daily contributions to kitv.com and KITV social media formats, including Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus
- We’re creating a vibrant work environment and this candidate will add to that mix.
- Must be able to shoot/edit stories as needed
Experience Requirements:
- 3-5 years of previous experience as a News Anchor
- 5+ years of experience as a News Reporter
- A proven ability to communicate and present news in a way that is interesting, clear and easy to understand
- Newsroom leadership and mentoring of reporters and producers
Requirements:
- College Degree
- Computer literacy is imperative
- Knowledge of the Hawaii television market is a plus
